Show #77 - Gayest Episode Ever

If you like listening to two straight dudes stammering through a discussion about gay people and gay culture, you're in for a treat with this episode of a Little Snack. NOTE: Because of some frank talk about certain places/activities Liberace (as played by Michael Douglas) visits/engages in, parental guidance is suggested. Discussed: new fountain pens, the banality of blue ink, excellent news regarding the brilliant new NBC show 'Hannibal', the ways in which 'Jack Reacher' succeeds and the numerous ways in which it fails, what fresh-faced newcomer Rosamund Pike brings to the movie, Christopher McQuarrie's former occupation, car chases and what about them filmmakers find alluring, what makes Reacher (the literary character) interesting, what may be Steven Soderburgh's last film before retirement 'Behind the Candelabra', the public's understanding of homosexuality in the pre-AIDS era, Liberace's "urges", PT Anderson's 'The Master', how Joaquin's performance in that film and a newborn baby are alike, how 'Candelabra' and 'Master' are alike, the Word of the Week, a Monolith moment, and an abrupt close. No GoT talk this week. Better luck next week. Enjoy!

Show #76 - Four Girls, One Cast

Shortly after the dopes recorded last year's Asheville Fantasticast, the three women who'd consigned themselves to marriage with said dopes recorded their own podcast. The result: podcast brilliance. The Twilight movies were examined, weird celebrity crushes were revealed, and a different kind of apple news was discussed. Well, the ladies have done it again (with the addition of the lovely KM) and laid down an hour of conversational luminescence. If you like high-pitched renditions of the Little Snack theme song and boob talk from the ladies' perspective, then you're going to love this episode of A Little Snack. Discussed: a point/counterpoint on the HBO show 'Girls', live reactions to a reading of the cast list from the new Lee Daniels film, 'The Butler', 'Jack Reacher' the film, boobies, what makes movies timeless, and then two of the girls make out. It's a good one. Again.

Show #75 - Blair Witch Clean Up in Theater 4

The mark of a long-lived podcast is that it features a second annual anything. Well, prepare yourself for the second annual Little Snack Asheville MegaCast featuring not only the two mumblemouth dopes you've resigned yourselves to, but ALSO two previous guest-hosts at the same time! That's right, Babyhands and Barnum are live and on the air to talk some sense to the 'Lith and the Trap. Discussed: timelessness in movies and what makes movies timeless, good and troubling trends in the movie industry, a new Word of the Week and, just in time, the casters' top ten movies of 2012. Enjoy!

Show #74 - Pepper Gets the Business

Shane Black's Iron Man 3 is a dead horse and your two favorite podcast dopes beat it for an hour or more! [Many spoilers!] Also: poor theater experiences, the Word of the Week, a video game featuring a certain pointy-eared comic-book character, and a short discussion of episode six, season three of Game of Thrones!

Show #73 - Rigs!

Even though Disney is marketing the hell out of "Iron Man 3" (its ads are everywhere, its stars are popping up all over the world promoting the movie), the manufactured excitement generated by the Disney/Marvel Marketing Machine somehow seems more manufactured than usual this time out. Even the very charming Robert Downey Jr. could only muster about ten percent of his usual wattage in his Daily Show appearance after having been shipped to and then displayed in seemingly every Asian country for a cavalcade of premieres. Though it may be that there is enthusiasm for the official start of the summer movie season because, at last, there's something at the multiplex worth seeing, there doesn't seem to be any actual excitement about this movie. Why is that? That question is not discussed, but other questions are, on this episode of A Little Snack! Discussed: Inside Amy Schumer, The Jeselnik Offensive, a live cat ejection, who kills it at the Comedy Central roasts, pens and what's good about them (to listen to Bear Trap talk about them, you'll be convinced the answer is 'nothing'), the release of a certain summer blockbuster, a new Word of the Week (and a quasi-bonus Word), a Roger Murtaugh impression, a new Danish judging show the 'Lith and the Trap disagree on, a Monolith Moment, a little about Shane Black, and finally some talk about episode FIVE of Game of Thrones, which is agreed to be a fairly ass-heavy episode. At just one hour, this one will fit into your schedule quite neatly. Enjoy, friends.
